CAO could use help from men and women just like you! Regardless of whether you can volunteer once or many times, whether you have several hours of availability or just a few, your time can make an enormous difference in the life of an African immigrant or refugee.
Ongoing volunteers can assist us in a variety of ways. If you think you could pitch in around the office, help with teaching duties, serve as an aide to a caseworker for our Social programs which help Africans navigate American systems, or simply help someone practice their English, contact us and see what an enormous difference you can make in the life of another.
We Encourage One-Time and Ongoing Volunteers
Your assistance to CAO doesn’t have to be a long term commitment. Many people choose to give only a few hours, or can’t help us on a regular schedule. That’s okay – we would still love to hear from you.
Aside from general help around the CAO office, we are always looking for volunteers to teach short, one-time classes. If you have a skill, such as accounting, craft work, resume writing, etc., then you can use that expertise to teach the basics to members of our group. Your specialty does not have to be highly-technical. We recently had someone come by and show CAO members how find employment as a CDOT flagger. These kinds of skills, which can lead to good jobs or new opportunities, are always of great help to us.
Or, if you have a skill that can’t be taught, but can be shared, please don’t hesitate to reach us, as we can always use assistance with grant writing, event planning, and dozens of other areas. If you have a special skill, and a couple spare hours, you can help Colorado Africans get their lives moving in the right direction.
